Information for Netscape and Other Browser Users

Unfortunately the Netscape browser is not officially supported by the Adobe SVG viewer for which these pages are designed, and Adobe recommend that you use Internet Explorer to view SVG pages. However in practice you may be able to work around this.

If you want to install an SVG viewer to use with Netscape, or another browser other than Internet Explorer, the procedure is as follows:-

  1. download the SVG installer from Adobe.com.
  2. This will create a file called SVGView.exe. Run this program.
  3. You now need to locate a file called NPSVG3.dll. It may be in the folder c:\Windows\System\Adobe\SVG Viewer 3.0
  4. Copy this file to the plugin directory of the Netscape (or other) browser.

I do not recommend that you install the latest version of the SVG viewer (3.3). This does not seem to work at all with Netscape. Instead you should install one of the older versions available at www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/old.html.

However I cannot guarantee that all of my examples will work, and there is a possibility that your browser may crash when you try to view some of them. If this happens to you - sorry! It is a new technology and the kinks have not yet been ironed out.
